When she challenged him she was too weak, and he overtook her. He slashed her chest five times, once for each member of her immediate family that died by his hand. Then, he took a dagger. It was a cursed dagger, cursed by Lord Karithia, ruler of the Wolf's birthing place. He grabbed Ray by the throat, and cut across her left eye with the dagger. This made her forever cursed to be half wolf. She could appear fully human or fully wolf, but from then on, she was fully both human and wolf.
